I don't know anything about the quality of the course or the teacher. Caveat emptor. Norm ORNITHOLOGY: THE STUDY OF BIRDS WITH WILLIAM R. STOTT, JR. This birding course was a "sell-out" in 2001, which is a clear reflection of the expertise and delivery of Bill Stott. The instructor, William R. Stott, Jr., Vice President of the Wildfowl Trust and renowned ornithologist, has extensive experience lecturing on ornithology and natural history. He is a member of several ornithological societies and has led birding expeditions throughout the world. Mr. Stott has encountered over 3,500 species in his travels. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Wildfowl Trust. This course is a college-level introduction to the study of birds in the context of their environment. Particular attention will be paid to their biology, field identification, ecology relationships, life histories, geographical and seasonal distribution, and migration. While the course is designed for beginners, it is by no means restricted to them. This course is being offered by Chesapeake College. It runs 6 (six) sessions beginning September 17 and running through October 22 from 6-8pm. It will be held at the Education Center at Horsehead Wetlands Center. The Center has 5 (five) exhibit ponds, a wildfowl taxidermy and exhibit gallery, and an aviary with a collection of 150 waterfowl and birds of prey. Cost: $10 tuition, $65 course fee. This does not include costs for voluntary suggested field trips. The course number is CEI 522. Please contact Chesapeake College at 410-822-5400 for registration.
