Three nesting attempts in the same nest by two sets of robins have yielded a net of 2 fledged birds at the most. Between egg predation and the pile of feathers next to the nest the day that two fledged they're having a hard time. Explanation of comment about two pairs of robins: First nesting was a female with white flight feathers-approximately # 2 and 3, maybe 4. She looked like a mocker from a quick look flying away. Next brood was a pair of normally feathered robins, as was the third. The bird with white wing markings is still inthe neighborhood as I saw her carrying food to another yard several times on Saturday. And a song sparrow has been my best customer with an experimental feeding of mealworms. It grabs a beakful and flies off to another yard and becomes elusive. Soon returns for another beakful. Will try again today to see where that bird goes.
