The best areas I have found this season are above (up-river) the boat ramp at Triadelphia Lake Rd. and the area above the boat ramp at Greenbridge Rd. Access to the first spot is still closed to the public via Triadelphia Lake Rd. but can be accessed by parking at Patuxent River State Park at the edge of the Montgomery County line at Rt. 97 and walking under the bridge along the river, until you come to the good spots where the water is very low and lots of muddy edges are exposed. In this hot weather it would be a very, very hot walk indeed. The Greenbridge Rd. fireroad is still good (as it was last September) and should again produce some good sightings this season. This might be the easiest "best" spot for shorebirds in the eastern part of the county this season. * I found 7 Least Sandpipers, 6 Spotted Sandpipers and a single Solitary Sandpiper, along with lots of Killdeer and C. Geese as well as an adult and juvenile Bald Eagles, and Great Blue Heron on July 20.
