This week I had my first success! I started by whistling when the female was eating the mealworms (which I put out daily). After a week of this I tried whistling when I stepped out on the deck. The first morning I tried it the female flew in from about 70 yards away and perched on the deck a few feet from me. It has now become our morning ritual and she shows up within 20 seconds of my whistle! Now if it would only work on LeConte's sparrows................
