Of course I'm referring to the Ring-billed Gulls, now showing up in their dapper breeding plumage. The dreary, drab juveniles will follow shortly. Above my house on Sunday (I live in Gaithersburg near the Airpark), two crows were hassling an adult Bald Eagle. My wife looked at the high-flying trio and said that the big one 'might be' a Bald Eagle (she thinks a lot of birds I see are eyeball floaters). My daughter Madeleine, a much more devoted birder, took the binocs and stated 'That is so totally a Bald Eagle!', so I consider my ID confirmed.
