Terry" Subject: Shorebirds at Loch Raven Reservoir MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit This morning in the cove close to Dulaney Valley Rd. along the White Pine Circuit Trail there were 9 Killdeer, 2 Spotted Sandpipers, 2 Solitary Sandpipers, 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Green Heron, 3 Great Egrets, and maybe 9 Least Sandpipers. Before I could carefully study the peeps, a fisherman walked along the water's edge and the birds flew. This area is easy to reach and maybe a great place to observe shorebirds during migration. Initially, I had planned on parking in the lot of Peerce's Plantation restaurant and walking to the mud flats below the restaurant. However, the parking lot was roped off and there were many no trespassing signs.
