My = father happened to get home in time to join me. Today we entered from Bi= g Branch (thanks for the idea Jim), there were mudflats here too, there w= ere a few shorebirds here. But if you continue to the right along the sh= ore you can reach the other flats. It is a shorter and easier walk this = way. Here are the results... Semipalmated Plover 6+ Killdeer 20 Lesser Yellowlegs 2-3 Solitary Sandpiper 10 Spotted Sandpiper 2-6? Semipalmated Sandpiper 80-100? Least Sandpiper 20-40? White-rumped Sandpiper 2 Pectoral Sandpiper 3 As we were leaving we were already around the Big Branch side, all the ge= ese flew and a lot of shorebirds. Yesterday when I approached from the o= ther side the same thing happened, I am guessing there was a birder comin= g from the other side, so it maybe better to try from the Big Branch side= . We didn't get as close as I would of liked, but it was nice to sit up = under the trees and scope the birds from a seated position. I got anothe= r look at an odd goose I saw yesterday, it looks like a White-fronted, bu= t it is of the barn yard variety. Reminded me of one I chased over there= a few years back, in fact it is probably the same bird.
