Most of the peeps (a flock of maybe 50 birds) stayed in the mud on the west side of the marsh. They seemed to be mostly Semipalmated and Least Sandpipers. Quite a few Killdeer as usual. Three Least Terns showed up, flew off and came back for a short while. The highlight was a juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron in the drainage ditch that goes from the marsh to the bay. It flew off when I went back for my camera and I couldn't relocate it. The road crew has finished their work, so parking is once again available at the beach. Standing along the side of the road is still risky and uncomfortable.
