Matt Hafner & I birded Pt. Lookout before taking the boat to Smith I. A Ring-necked Duck was in the pond near the point. Migrants included Northern Waterthrush, American Redstart, Yellow Warbler, and a Traill's Flycatcher. A single Palamedes Swallowtail added some extra flavor. The boat across to Smith I. was not very birdy. Almost no terns or gulls. I got a brief look at a single Wilson's Storm-Petrel. The island had a few migrants: American Redstart, Yellow Warbler, and Black-and-white Warbler. A single American Oystercatcher was on the jetty along with a lone Sanderling. 5 immature and 1 adult Yellow-crowned Night-Herons were seen along with Cattle Egret (1), Snowy Egret (2), Little Blue Heron (8), Tricolored Heron (4), Greeen heron & Great Blue Heron. The trip back was a bit better with 2 easily seen Wilson's Storm-Petrels, including one that followed 100 feet behind the boat for almost a mile. Top all that off with a crab cake .... Good Birding!
