I recently checked out a new book (that is, it was in the "new book" section) from a Montgomery Co. library -- "Birders: Tales of a Tribe" by Mark Cocker -- and can recommend it as a good read. It is really a tale of British birding and the rise of the twitching scene, but there is a great deal that will ring true with birders on this side of the pond as well. A great many rollicking (true) tales are told, and a few tragic ones as well: Clive Byers and the muck-spreader, the finding of the Ancient Murrelet on Lundy, David Hunt and the tiger... Check out your local library and enjoy!
