My first stop was the small pond north of Millington on 313 that I posted on a few weeks ago, it was almost dry. Next I headed to Ridgely since I haven't heard of any recent reports from there. Not many birds there is probably the reason. Hurlock was spectacular with the Wilson's Phalarope still present. There was a large gull roost just south of the Beulah Landfill on Rt 331 that had some shorebirds including Pectorals. Easton was very wet with almost 0 shorebirds. The Rt. 309 ponds were dull with only Killdeer. Terrapin Pt had a few shorebirds in the main pond, but very few passerine migrants. Here are the shorebird totals as well as selected other species. Millington Pond - 3 Semi Plover, 3 Semi Sand, 2 Leasts Ridgely - 60 Killdeer, 1 Least, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, 3 Ruddy Ducks Hurlock - (shorebird numbers estimated due to constant flushing and moving around) 2 Snow Geese, 6 Ruddy Ducks, 20 Killdeer, 8 Lesser Yellowlegs, 10 Spotted Sandpipers, 15 Pectorals, 10 Leasts, 1 Wilson's Phalarope (I haven't heard anyone else post, but this looked like an adult female to me), 50 Bank Swallows, 4 Rough-wings, 10 Tree, 30 Barns, and 800+ Cowbirds just south of town. Beulah - 800-1000 Laughing Gulls with a few Herrings and fewer Ring-bills, 55 Killdeer, 10 Leasts, 18 Pectorals Easton - 25 Bobolinks, 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Ruddy Duck, 1 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher in the phragmites around the pond Terrapin Pt - 2 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, 1 Redstart, 1 Yellow Warbler, 12 Eastern Kingbirds, 1 Red-eyed Vireo, 4 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Solitary Sand, 3 Leasts, 4 Semi Sand, 3 Royal Terns Matt Hafner Bel Air, MD ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
