Actually they weren't on Skimmer itself but on a small marshy island between Skimmer and the mainland. One was an adult and the other probably a juvenile, judging from the begging posture and somewhat smudgier crown. My scope was near the limit of its effectiveness here but I finally got a good look at the adult's yellow-tipped bill against a dark background to remove any doubt. There were also a couple dozen Royals and a few Common and Forsters, plus 1 juvenile Skimmer. Tide was only partly out. Thanks to the Saunders for saving me a drive to Chincoteague. Birds like these may not be a big deal to some folks but they're still newsworthy, especially if you've never seen one.
