Byrnes (joseph.byrnes@comcast.net) Subject: Least Terns Parke, I was at the north end of Assateague Island a few weeks ago and had one Least Tern flying around. They nested in the same area as the Piping Plovers (you'll see the No Trespassing signs where the plovers nested, but I was told by the ranger to disregard the signs now). I saw a couple of Least Terns in the same spot in May. It may be a 45 minute walk north from the Assateague State Park parking lot, and you may need to walk around a little (I had walked maybe a quarter of a mile past the beginning of the No Trespassing signed area, and then went west almost to the bay before I saw the tern flying. Good luck, -Joe Joe Byrnes Columbia, MD joseph.byrnes@comcast.net ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
