I'm sure that lots of us enjoy feeding the birds so I just wanted to share a
little nugget I got at the feed store. I'm being told that for several
reasons, the drought being only one, black oil sunflower seeds will be going
up in price in the near future. They are expecting the wholesale price to be
over a $1 more than they are selling the 50 LB bags for now. Can anybody
verify this information?

I also asked about seed that hadn't been sprayed with chemicals that were
causing blackbird deaths in So Dakota. They are going to check into
availability of "guaranteed" not-sprayed seed and let me know what's
available. I know that Chesapeake Audubon is canceling its fundraising
annual bird seed sale because of its inability to find a suitable, reasonably
priced source for feed that wasn't grown at the expense of birds in another
part of the country. I would appreciate knowing if anyone knows of a
wholesale source they could use.

Thanks,
Marian Dodson
