Shorebirds were very scarce in the pond at first light. A few more appeared later. Best birds were around Fort Lincoln, I had Northern Waterthrush, Canada, Magnolia, B & W, Pine, Chats and lots of Redstarts. Also had a Cliff Swallow with the group of swallows at the shorebird pond. The Marbled Godwit that was here as late as 6:30pm 8/29 has apparently left to continue migration. Along with the MAGO there was a 1st year Little Blue Heron and a 1st year Tri-Coloured Heron. Along with 25-30 Least Sandpipers, a dozen or more Greater Yellowlegs, 2-3 Lesser Yellowlegs and 2 White-Rumped Sandpipers, 1 Western Sandpiper. Today at noon only the 1st year LBHE remained along with I believe a 1st year Snowy Egret. This evening I visited the ponds again after work and met up with another local birder (Lisa Lister) who advised me of a possible very hard to see Stilt Sandpiper. After much patience Im happy to say I was able to view a very nervous STSA that was keeping company with 3 Short-Billed Dowitchers. If anyone would like to visit the ponds at Point Lookout they are in an area that is open to the public and Im asking (as a fellow birder) that we make every effort to stay on the roads edge if at all possible and we refrain from entering the very fragile marsh enviroment. Thanks and Good Birding, Marty Cribb, Point ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= Lookout, St Marys Co, Md ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
