I thought people would be interested in the 2 Buff-breasted Sandpipers that we had running around on the dyke dividing the south cells. The other shorebirds were greatly reduced from 2 weeks ago with Lesser Yellowlegs, Spotted, and Leasts be the only others around. A flock of shovelers and a juv. Bonaparte's Gull were also new. A plowed field a few miles south of Hurlock on the west side of 331 also had some nice birds. With the many Killdeer and Laughing Gulls, were another Buff-breast, a Golden-Plover, and 2 Pectorals. The pig farm on Indiantown Rd north of Vienna, had an interesting collection of shorebirds. There were quite a few Leasts about in the small puddles and rotten watermelons. Closer inspection picked out a few Semi Sands. At the back of the watermelon pile, there was a pretty juv. Baird's. However the most interesting shorebirds of the bunch were two Western Sandpipers in very close. All in all it was a great day and I'll post more later.
