Goldfinch behavior MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit 2 September 2002 Yesterday when I was at Hughes Hollow I watched a small group of goldfinhes feeding in a way I don't remember seeing before. They were in a dead bush over a duckweed covered stream by the impoundments. They were extending their bodies downward and picking something(possibly the duckweed) off the floating vegetation. I have seen Swamp Sparrows feeding this way, but I don't remember goldfinches doing it.
