My best find in MD was Handy Rd, east of Federalsburg. There are extensive cucumber fields on MD 318 at the state line. The fields can also be viewed from White Rd and Handy Rd. White Rd is the last left in MD and Handy Rd (dirt) is the first right off of White. Beware, the state line bisects these fields, so be careful of where the birds are. - 7 Pecs on the DE side and 5 Leasts on the MD side when it was dry on 8/31. I have been looking here for Buff-Breasted, but without success. -Today the hotspot was on Handy Rd. Along Handy Rd., there are 2 sizable puddles on the MD side. It held ~100 Lesser Yellowlegs including one leucistic bird that was nearly white. Its markings were there but all very washed out and it had yellow legs and a dark eye. Other shorebirds included 10 Least Sands, 4 Semi Sands, 1 WR Sand, 1 Stilt Sand, 2 SB Dowitcher and 1 Solitary Sand. 2 county birds for me (WR Sand and Stilt Sand) so I was happy though it sounds like I should have gone down toward Hurlock.
