On Friday, I observed a single White-winged Scoter from Horsehead = Wetlands. This bird was in the Kent Narrows, and was a male. I = presumed it was a bird who had not completed its spring migration, = rather than an early arrival. Horsehead was otherwise pretty quiet. On Monday evening, after the sun came out, there was a large hatch of = some insect, and they were out in great numbers over my residence on = Kent Island. Laughing gulls were attempting to be Purple Martins, = flying around flycatching. While their flight wasn't as agile as the = martins, they still seemed very successful at snatching the insects out = of the air.
