Thinking the change in temps might bring some migrants through, I went out =
briefly at lunch. It was surprisingly bird free though when time was =
running out, I did run into a group of birds that were mostly Redstarts. =
There were flocks of Cedar Waxwings with a good mix of juveniles thrown =
in. Also, a few E. Kingbirds busily flycatching.

One puzzling birds was an empidonax flycatcher. I only caught a glimpse =
before it disappeared but it gave the impression of a Least. But, it was =
wagging its tail. I don't recall ever seeing this in empidonax. Has anyone =
else seen this behavior in empids?

Yesterday I had 2 Semi-palmated Sandpipers and the day before one Western =
Sandpiper. There is no suitable habitat at JPPM this summer for shorebirds =
so finding any shorebirds at all is a plus. The one pond here that is =
sometimes suitable would have been ideal had the water levels just dropped =
to their present level. But, since they were dry most of the summer, the =
exposed mud is covered with grass. D'oh!
