The = bird was first located at about 2:15pm and was seen through about 3:30pm = and was relocated at about 6pm. Saturday, the bird was not relocated in = the morning despite the presence of numerous birders but was found in the = afternoon. It has been loosely associating with a group of Black Terns. There has not, to my knowledge, been a report of White-winged Tern in the = US since one was found in California in, I believe, 1998 and previous to = that there was a recurrent bird in coastal Delaware that was last seen at = the time of the Whiskered Tern in, I think, 1993. Sorry for the belated post but we didn't check the net this weekend. To check on further postings about the tern, go to Jack Siler's Birding on = the Net site at: http://birdingonthe.net go to regional lists and look for Virginia in the first large block of = states near the top of the page. Good Birding!
