Another favorite of mine is his "A Seasonal Guide to the Natural Year: Mid-Atlantic" which highlights the natural events for each month - birds, but also insect, mammal and plant life. Great book - a "what should I do with my weekend? I know, road trip!" kind of book... I'm reading "Ghost With Trembling Wings" right now. Even though the subject of extinct species isn't a new one to me this book brings it all home. It's depressing, but beautifully written. Timely, too, with that parrot being rediscovered in Colombia (right?) recently. Gives you a reason to hope against hope...
