So we were off to the pond to find the bird still present, a handsome adult male in basic (winter) plumage. Thank you Harvey for a chance to see this handsome visitor. Also present at the pond were nine waterfowl species and six other shorebird species. Including: 9 Snow Geese (a breath of winter on a muggy day) 90 Green-winged Teal 8 Northern Pintail 3 Northern Shoveler 30 Blue-winged Teal 1 Ring-necked Duck 1 American Golden-Plover (juvenile) 1 Semipalmated Plover 1 Stilt Sandpiper (juvenile) Also 1 Caspian Tern (adult) We also stopped at the Central Sod Farm off John Brown Road on the way home from the MOS Board Meeting at Horsehead and can report the 2 juvenile Buff-breasted Sandpipers are still there.
