Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2002 14:26:45 -0400 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: Kurt Schwarz Subject: Restrictions at Triadelphia and Rocky Gorge I visited Triadelphia Reservoir this afternoon in pursuit of the Forster's Terns and Pectoral Sandpipers reported yesterday (No Forster's, the Pectorals, however, were there, at Pigtail). I thought I should ask how deer hunting would affect access, bow season having begun there yesterday. According to the Ranger at the Ranger Station, Pigtail and Big Branch are off limits to any use except hunting Monday through Saturday. This will affect the Fall Count on 21 September. Likewise, there will be hunting at Rocky Gorge, and birding and other uses will be restricted. Greenbridge will remain open, however Triadelphia Lake Rd. access will be closed Oct 18 and 25, Nov 16, Dec 6 and 10. In addition, it is asked that ALL BIRDERS CONTACT THE RANGER STATION IN ADVANCE, regardless of what area they will be visiting. This has apparently be instituted post 9/11, but was the first I had heard of it. Call 301-744-9124 and let them know you're coming. Those how normally count at Rocky Gorge and Triadelphia will probably want to call and confirm, but it looks like we will NOT be able to count there next Saturday Kurt Schwarz Howard County goawaybird@comcast.net ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
