Since I had a dog recovering from an infection and it was suppose to
rain I limited my activities to checking the wires along River Rd., walking
around the impoundments, and looking out over the Potomac from Sycamore
Landing. Not too active, but I did record 32 species. Highlights were an
immature RED-HEADED WOODPECKER on the south side of the large impoundment, 4
Double=crested Cormorants & 4 FORSTER'S TERNS over the stargrass mats in the
river, 181 Rough-winged Swallows on the wires, a Black-throated Blue
Warbler, a Black-throated Green Warbler with enough hormones left to try to
sing briefly, 6 Common Yellowthroats, and a Wilson's Warbler. Finally,
birds that won't be here much
longer- 2 Chukars trying to get run over on Sycamore Landing Rd.
