The watch began in 1995, and the site is manned by volunteers from the Cecil Bird Club and other affiliated Clubs in the area. Generally counters are only present from ~ 9AM - 12 PM. Last year we had complete coverage, but it seems we may not have such good fortune this year. For more complete site information, including volunteering at the site, view www.udel.edu/cecilbirds Going back to 9/14 briefly, the Lees noted a 6 Woodpecker day, excluding Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. They had a good look at 2 immature Red-headed flying through the clearing, and also made note of Greater Yellowlegs passing over. The Lees were present again on 9/15, when rain began at 1015 and the only birds seen were resident Bald Eagles and Osprey. I went out this AM ( 9/16) from 1100 to 1330 hoping for the oppressive weather to break up, but was rewarded with only 3 OS, 1 SS and a resident Bald Eagle, the latter I was able to show a family of hikers. ( who wanted to know how much further to the lighthouse. ) Wind was light a shifting around from SSE to SSW. Better days shall come.
