Not as many migrants around as expected and also, late dropping into the Ridge (picnic area 17/18). Best bird was another PHILADELPHIA VIREO, plus warblers including Blackburnian, Black-throated Blue, Blackpoll, Black-throated Green, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Nashville, Redstart, Yellowthroat, other vireos included both Red-eyed and White-eyed, as well as Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Scarlet Tanager, Swainson's Thrush, Phoebes and Wood-pewees. Nothing in any numbers except Red-eyes (10), Maggies (6) and Chestnut-sideds (5). Folks in the Maintenance Yard saw a Yellow-bellied Flycatcher as well. Yesterday Barry went down to Alexandria, Hunting Creek and Jones Point. Birds of interest seen in D.C. (from Founder's Park) included 4-5 Black Terns. One Royal Tern was seen from Jones Point (in Maryland waters). There were a lot of shorebirds (including 25 Stilt SPs!)at Hunting Creek, probably as a result of the storm offshore, which may also have been responsible for the Royal Tern so far up the Potomac.
