In the early morning, I take my dog out in the back yard for purposes that I will not discuss here. Yesterday and today I noticed a chorus of thrushes calling overhead between 6:00 and 6:20 a.m. Just depending on the Stokes recording, I think I could identify both Veery and Swainson's Thrush. I also could distinguish a third call that did not sound like any call on the recording (a clear note with a slight rising inflection). These call notes are fun and so challenging. (I may have to open my wallet for the new CD after all.)
