They were not, and no other observers showed up at least as of 11 AM. The low clouds just never lifted enough. But there was compensation: An adult male Merlin posed wonderfully in a large dead tree towards the stream from the hawk watch. In past years we've had Merlins lingering there in the fall like this. He may have been the one that buzzed us close a few days ago. I got a great look at a Lincoln's Sparrow by the dry stream bed from the hawk-watch side near where a rope is strung across the stream from posts. My attention was drawn by its unfamiliar chip notes. Someone reported one around there a few days ago. Probably more than one Rose-breasted Grosbeak came by also. I've forgotten what warblers look like.
