Their optic are fantastic, and their superior light-gathering qualities become apparent as you search before dawn and linger after sunset. Their only drawback, so far as I am concerned, is that they're not waterproof. I've taken them to sea -- once -- with some trepidation and encountered no problem, but the sea was calm and there was little spray. I've used them in the rain; their lenses get just as wet as waterproof bins, with no apparent damage. I hear non-waterproof bins fog up in rain forests and become completely useless, so I'm in the market for waterproof bins for pelagic and rain forest birding; Leicas have been highly recommended to me. For more bins info, check out www.betterviewdesired.com. Good birding.
