But as migrant conditions deteriorated so did my enthusiasm. Things looked promising on Tuesday AM at Rockburn Branch Park, where I encountered three busy flocks of warblers, the highlight being a male Wilson's. But it was downhill after that, and so quiet by Thursday that I skipped the birds today. Maybe there will be a surge next week when the next cold front finally arrives. Hoping it brings a Tennessee or two. Here are the notables from Tuesday thru Thursday: 9/17, Rockburn Branch (HoCo), AM: Chestnut-sided - 5-6 Magnolia - 10+ BT Green - 5-6 Black & White - 1 Wilson's - 1 Canada - 1 9/17, Milford Mill Park (BaCo), noon Yellow-crowned Night-Heron - 1 juvenile, crawfishing RE Vireo - 1 Magnolia - 3 BT Green - 2 Pine - 1 drab first fall Am Redstart - 1 ad. male N Waterthrush - 1 9/18, Patapsco SP, Vineland Trail (BaCo), AM WE Vireo - 1 RE Vireo - 1 Brown Thrasher - 1 Chestnut-sided - 1 imm. Magnolia - 2 Am. Redstart - 2 ad. male 9/19, Rockburn, AM Brown Thrasher - 1 Magnolia - 1 C Yellowthroat - 3 Is it just me or are Carolina Wrens very abundant this year? They must be benefitting from our recent mild winters.
