The Orange-crowned Warbler was seen briefly, in a distant mulberry tree, as it flew to the ground where it presumably was picking up flying insects from the grass. It would then land back in the lowest branches of the tree. It did this for about 5 minutes or so as I watched. The wind made viewing difficult. I went back home around 6:20 after a brief period where I did not see the bird. I got a call yesterday morning from Dave Powell, who wanted directions to the bird. He e-mailed me that at 4 PM (Monday) he did not see the bird, but he went back out about 5 and as he was getting ready to leave he saw the bird. I went out this morning and did NOT relocate it. It may have left during the night, which was cold and clear here in Ashton.
