Fortunately the bird was a very cooperative photo subject and posed nicely on telephone and fence wires as it hunted insects on the ground. Fortunately too, I had my digiscoping equipment and snapped off about 37 photos of the bird. Some of the best are available here: http://nestbox.com/rare2.htm We had a pretty good morning at the mistnets too, with highlights of Black-throated Blue Warblers, Western Palm Warbler, Northern Waterthrush, Ovenbird, and our first Yellow-rumped Warbler, Song, Savannah and Lincoln's Sparrows of the season. To visit the JBWS you must first check in at the office and then hike over to the farm via the Farm Trail. A trail guide is available at the office. The Sanctuary is located off of Route 4, south of Upper Marlboro. Take the Wrighton Road turnoff and follow the signs to the Sanctuary. For more information, call 410-741-9330.
