Autumn Birders -
I just could not resist checking out Tilghman Island this morning, now
that the weather has become more favorable for migrants. Some nice birds
were around, though not in great numbers. Forty species were found, even
though I was late getting there (10:30 a.m.).
    Highlights:
        Redstarts 8+
        White-throated Sparrow 2
        Yellow-rumped Warbler 2
        Black-throated Blue Warbler (Male)
        Gt Crested Flycatcher
Catbirds - moving through - over 20 seen, including 14 together
feasting on a single bush covered by grapevines
        Palm Warbler (Western)
        Field Sparrow
        Phoebe 6+
        Brown-headed Nuthatch 4
        Common Yellowthroat - many
        Sharp-shinned Hawk 3
        Kestrel
        Royal Tern 4
and two lovely Bald Eagles circling in the sky.

In the region known locally as McDaniel, an access point that allowed
viewing of the Chesapeake Bay revealed a loitering flock of over 200 Mute
Swans.
