Seventeen birders = were present; 54 bird species were sighted before the group disbanded - = and as we returned to our cars and exited the lane, another five species = were heard or seen. The new wetland carried lots of visiting shorebirds, many of which = were arriving in the morning, even as the birders watched. Shorebirds = sighted: Greater Yellowlegs 2 Lesser Yellowlegs ~ 20 Least Sandpiper 12+ Semipalmated S'piper 2 Pectoral Sandpiper 6 STILT SANDPIPER 2 Semipalmated Plover 4 Killdeer 40+ Other birds seen in the vicinity of the wetlands included Bald = Eagle, Kestrel, Northern Harrier, Red-tailed Hawk, Horned Larks, and = American Crows. Elsewhere on the PCAC property the highlights were: Rose-breasted Grosbeak (2), Black-and-white Warbler (3), Black-throated = Green Warbler, and Savannah Sparrow (3).
