Along Blades Road in the southern part of the county we found a Northern Waterthrush. At Scott's Landing we noted a largish flock of Tree Swallows moving south. At Public Landing we saw half a dozen Barn Swallows getting close to the end of their summer stay. These were all on the 28th. On the 29th, at Skimmer Island (viewed from Hooper's dock) we noted all the usual suspects but the most interesting sighting was of three Brant, equaling their previously published (Yellow Book, 1996 ed.) early arrival date. We noted 8 Tricolored Herons here and 5-6 Little Blue Herons. We did NOT see any Green Herons or Cattle Egret this weekend. The Clapper Rails are still vocalizing noisily in the marsh behind our house.
