The yard is in a remnant patch of second growth at the southwest corner of rts. 29 and 40. If stuff like the below is showing up there, it must have been great out in the wider world of decent habitat. Aside from the usual suspects, the good stuff was: Red-shouldered Hawks -2, adult, probably resident Empidonax species Red-eyed Vireo - 1-2 Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1, my first this fall E. Bluebird - 6+, a real delight to watch, mostly immatures Gray-cheeked Thrush - 1, only the 2nd time noted in the yard, the last back in '92 or '93. Pine Warler - 1, new to the yard list, first fall female, that I TRIED to make into a Bay-breasted, but couldn't! Black-throated Blue Warbler - at least 2, male and female, but perhaps more than one female Scarlet Tanager - 1, immature male A Hummingbird, presumably Ruby-throated, visited the feeder briefly yesterday, 10/5, at 18:45 and 18:50. ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
