As I walked in towards the pond, there were many chips and squeaks coming from the grassy/scrubby margin of the pond. After "pishing" briefly, six sparrows promptly popped up from the grass to the one small bush in the area, about forty or fifty feet from me. Five were Song Sparrows, but one was a beautiful Lincoln's Sparrow. I was able to get great looks at the Lincoln's Sparrow with my bins, and then got him in my scope and got incredible views of the head pattern, the buff, streaked breast, and even the fine specks on the otherwise white throat. I don't think I've ever had a single sparrow take up the entire field of view of my scope before! Shorebirds present were 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Pectoral Sandpipers, many Killdeer, and some peeps.
