I have definatly noticed a lack of summer birds in the last few days. Many more migrating birds today then lately also. (mostly ring-billed). notable birds listed below.... Raptors: Bald Eagle (2- resident) Osprey (3) Possible Harrier (seen at long distance) Summer migrants: Palm Warbler (western-6) Eastern Phoebe (4) Gray Catbird (1) Chimney Swift (10) Tree Swallow (150+) Northern Rough-winged Swallow (6) Water birds: Great Egret (6) Great Blue Heron (6) Mallard (20) Canada Goose (mostly migrating over head- 150+) Ring-billed Gull Great Black-backed Gull Herring Gull Belted Kingfisher (6) Wrens and Woodpeckers: Carolina Wren (3) House Wren (1) Posible Winter Wren -only seen for a split second (not counted) Northern Flicker (6) Red-Bellied Woodpecker (12) Sparrows: Song Sparrow (1) House Sparrow (2) Winter Birds: Ruby-crowned Kinglet (6) Golden-crowned Kinglet (23) -first for me this fall! White-breasted Nuthatch (3) Possible dozens of Yellow-rumps high in the trees (horrible light conditions- not counted). Also, I saw a very large flock of moslty common grackle in the town of North east this morning on my way to work.
