The watch began in 1995, and the site is manned by volunteers from the Cecil Bird Club and other affiliated Clubs in the area. Generally counters are only present from ~ 9AM - 12 PM. Last year we had complete coverage, but it seems we may not have such good fortune this year. ( Acutally, we have only missed a few days thus far, ) For more complete site information, including volunteering at the site, view www.udel.edu/cecilbirds On 10/8, Bill Collins and Charlie Gant had a great morning for BALD EAGLES, counting 16 adults and 7 immature. Also noted were COMMON LOONS flying over, second sighting of season for these. Others tallied during the 4 hour count were: BV-1, TV-11, OS-1, SS-35, CH-6, RT-7, ML-1, UA-1, UR-1. Any day now I expect the buteos will really begin to fly in earnest and I look forward to seeing my favorite, Red-shouldered Hawk. Seasonal Update: total of 1,243 in 108 count hours.
