Some 2000+ Laughing Gulls of the pond were = thoroughly scoped, but the Franklin's was either occupied elsewhere or = had moved on. The birders eventually proceeded over to Black Walnut Point where = most of the day's 52 species were recorded. Sparrow sightings led the = way - with a re-find of one previously-reported Lincoln's Sparrow, along = with White-throated, Song, Field, and Swamp Sparrows. A Grasshopper = Sparrow had been sighted near Easton WWTP. Other highlights: Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - great looks, at eye level Migrating Blue Jays - 200+ Sharp-shinned Hawks - 6 Cooper's Hawks - 3 (at least) Merlin - 1 Common Loon - 2 Eastern Meadowlark - 1 Palm Warbler ( 1 at Easton WWTP) Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 3 Brown Thrasher - 1 Tree Swallow (several at Easton WWTP) =20 The ponds behind the berm along North Dover Road near the Easton = WWTP allowed great viewing of the resting gulls. No other shorebirds = besides Killdeer were there this morning, though a small group did fly = past. Thanks much to Jim Stasz for finding and reporting that site. I = am not sure how long it has been excavated, but out Talbot County Club = Members were not aware of its presence. Nice find!
