I suspected as much when I saw dickybirds in a tizzy at the tree cavity a few days ago. Rusty, the unusually beautiful (really) red-morph Screech Owl, has returned to her roost near my driveway. I last saw her there in February, before the undeniably homely red-morph male Whitey lured her away to parts unknown too early for me to count them for my Atlas block (darn!). At the moment branches somewhat obscure the roost hole (this in a supposedly dead locust tree -- you can't kill those things), but the view will improve in a couple of weeks when the leaves drop. Bob Mumford, you can hold out that long, can't you?
