McHenry Big Sit (10/13) MIME-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT The Ft. McHenry Bit Sit was very successful; we counted 772 birds of 66 species in seventeen hours. Last year we had 55 species in sixteen hours. The park service erected a sixteen foot tower that gave us a great view of the Steinwig maintenance yard where we found the Clay-colored, Savannah, Chipping, Swamp, Song, Lincoln's, White-throated, and Field Sparrows. Other highlights included finding six American Black Duck in the predawn hours - they were gone at daybreak; a singing Marsh Wren; a female Black and White Warbler; a Palm Warbler; and a Winter Wren.
