If so, I mistakenly identified the former as an immature male. The bird I saw theis morning was most certainly an immature female (though they could have been 2 different birds) Ruby-throated Hummingbird. Very late! It perched briefly on a stem, in the hedgerow (not in my yard), then flew out to feed on honeysuckle. I approached to within about 15 feet, and got fairly good looks, due mostly to the low light conditions. I will keep an eye out tomorrow for it, and may be able to get a digi-pic.
