We did minimal landbirding, but that didn't stop the Ruby-crowned Kinglets!! They were everywhere. Ridgely delighted us with a flock of 27 American Golden-Plovers plus 2 Black-bellied Plovers. Other shorebirds included: 10 Dunlin, 4 Pectorals, 3 Leasts, 3 White-rumps, a Semi Sand, a Spotted, Lesser Yellowlegs and Killdeer. Ducks were represented by Shoveler, Ruddy, Green-winged Teal, a Blue-winged Teal and of course Mallard. Easton was loaded with Canada Geese as well as shorebirds. About 30 Lesser Yellowlegs with 12 Stilt Sandpipers, 12 Dunlin, a group of Leasts, a White-rump, and 2 Dowitchers (1 LB, 1 sp.) Ducks here included the same as above plus a pair of Gadwall. A Bobolink flushed with the numerous Savannah Sparrows in the fields. Pickering Creek remains loaded with shorebirds, but no phalarope for us. About 15 each of Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, plus 6 Pectorals, a few Leasts, a Dunlin, and 5 very vocal Long-billed Dowitchers including 1 juvenile. Before I met Zach, I had a Pintail in with the Mallards at Terrapin Pt. Zach had 2 Blue-headed Vireos and a Nashville Warbler at Mill Stream park in Centreville.
