There are two upcoming Smithsonian-sponsored lectures on birds to be held at the National Zoo Visitor's Center. They are free, but you have to call to RSVP at 202-673-4801. OCTOBER 24 (this Thursday): John Rappole will present "On Wing in Hkakabo Razi: The Birds of Myanmar." -- Myanmar (Burma) is a forbidding country to most of us, but supports a host of rare and beautiful birds. This lecture starts at 7:30 p.m. OCTOBER 30: Ken Kaufman will present: "Birds: A World to Discover" -- there will be a 7 p.m. booksigning, with the lecture starting at 8 p.m. See you there!
