Birds 10/22/02 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable A late afternoon visit to Liberty Lake produced the following birds: At the Route 32 Bridge: Canada Goose 179, Killdeer 49, Greater = Yellowlegs 3, Pectoral Sandpiper 2 At the Route 26 west bridge: Osprey 1, Killdeer 9, Greater = Yellowlegs 1 At Oakland Road: Double-crested Cormorant 1, Great Blue Heron 1, = Canada Goose 32, Mallard 8, Black Duck 28, Green-winged Teal 14, = SURF SCOTER 3, Ring-billed Gull 25, Yellow Palm Warbler 4. This is the second Surf Scoter record for the lake. The first was 6 = on 10/17/81 by Jim Orgain and Harvey Mudd at the Nicodemus Road/Deer = Park Road Bridge when the Brown Pelican visited there. At the Oakland = Road site it is frequently a guessing game to place the birds in one = county or the other. The birds usually sit on the Baltimore County side = and the county line traces an odd course around the point.
