The watch began in 1995, and the site is manned by volunteers from the Cecil Bird Club and other affiliated Clubs in the area. Generally counters are only present from ~ 9AM - 12 PM. Last year we had complete coverage, but it seems we may not have such good fortune this year. ( Acutally, we have only missed a few days thus far, ) For more complete site information, including volunteering at the site, view www.udel.edu/cecilbirds Well, it is time to play catch up at getting the reports out; have been falling behind! There have been several strong flights: GOSHAWK has been recorded and RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS are beginning to move. All three falcons continue to come through. Rick Lee and Parke John counted 3.2 hours on 10/18, N winds and total 13 birds: OS-2, BE-1, SS-4, CH-1, RT-5 Rick Lee, Tom Raub and the Quins had much better luck 10/19 with a total of 189 raptors during a 5 hour count with S winds: BV-1, TV-35, OS-2, BE-10, NH-2, SS-113, CH-13, RT-3, AK-5, PG-3, UA-2 10/20 was another disappointing return to low numbers for Rick and Candi Lee, and field trip participants, BUT, they did have good looks at PEREGRINE FALCON and tallied all three falcons. . 26 total in 4 hour count and N. winds: TV-3,BE-4,NH-1,RT-4, AK-1, ML-6, PG-2, UF-1 Bill Collins, along with his wife , in a seemingly yo-yo effect, bounced back with another good count on 10/21, with 232 raptors in a 5 hr period from 0800 and 1300: BV-5 TV-84 OS-2- BE-10 SS-39 CH-3 RS-23 RT-47 ML-2 PG-1 UB-16 Pat Valdata along with friend Cathy and visitors had another decent count 10/22; all were thrilled to have a GOSHAWK fly right overhead at the clearing. A total of 91 raptors from 0900 to 1300.
