I don't claim to be very good at IDing gulls, but I think I saw a first winter Black-headed Gull. It was feeding with a flock of Forsters Terns and was slightly larger than the terns and just didn't have the jizz of a Bonapartes Gull. There were no Bonapartes Gulls around to compare it to. My only hesitation on calling it a Black-headed is the bill color - I could never see any color except black. However, that could be because of the distance - it never came very close to me. I first saw it at the lower end of the parking lot, but it was ranging up and down the river from the dam down to the island downstream from the parking lot. Also seen were about 30 Bald Eagles with about 10 of them being adults, hundreds of Double-crested Cormorants (I didn't look for any Greater) and an immature night-heron, presumably a Black-crowned. (Only saw it with binoculars.)
