On Lake Redington, there were a few ruddy ducks (mostly male) and some ring-necked ducks among hundreds of Can. geese. A few wood ducks could be seen along the distant shore. Along the Cash Lake shore, we "spotted" a pair of spotted sandpipers. We saw a total of 3 yellow-bellied sapsuckers, 1 adult male and two immatures (together..siblings?). Also, we saw yellow-rumped warblers, DE juncos, WT sparrows....surprise, surprise! One visitor reported seeing both ruby-crowned and golden crowned kinglets in the woods. Later in the afternoon, a least six bonaparte's gulls landed on Lake Redington. It was a glorious day to be out. note: part of the trail around Cash Lake will be closed effective Nov. 1. This part is closed annually at this time to provide a quiet area for wintering waterfowl in a cove along the closed off portion and it will remain closed until next spring. One can still walk to the far end of the lake, just NOT go completely around the lake. Great birding to all...
